SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS:
Reporting to the Sanitation Manager, this role will ensure that quality standards, practices, and programs meet Company, Customer and Government Sanitation requirements. Provides supervision to hourly Sanitation personnel; ensures that the associated sanitation programs are followed by all, as well as training sanitation employees in these programs. Key Liaison with the third-party sanitation contract workers. Maintains the Master Cleaning Schedule (MCS)
TASKS
Coordinates, directs and follows up on the activities of the hourly Sanitation personnel including the Lead Hands on all three shifts. Provides scheduling to all sanitation staff to ensure that shifts are covered to meet Company requirements. Ensures that equipment and production environment comply with food safety criteria before the start of production (pre-op inspection)
Administers disciplinary procedures through the direction of the Sanitation Manager and ensures all disciplines meet the criteria of the Progressive Discipline Policy.
Maintains and updates the Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (Cleaning Protocols) for all equipment, areas of production, receiving distribution and warehousing. Provides training to all hourly Sanitation employees on all aspects of the use of sanitation applications and chemicals on food contact surfaces and non-food contact surfaces.
Works with the Quality Specialist to ensure that the Cleaning Protocols are up to date, adequate for the equipment and made available to sanitation employees. Provides training for all employees to ensure that the tasks are being completed in an acceptable manner.
Maintains the schedule for periodic cleaning (deep cleaning) and external contract. Maintain all SDS for sanitation chemicals used by Sanitation personnel.
Participates in s CFIA, SQF and customer second party audits to ensure related documentation is complete, accurate, with appropriate Corrective Actions, signatures and dates/time.
Assists in the maintenance of good employee relations through ongoing communication, counseling, and coaching. Provides feedback regarding employee performance via performance appraisals, departmental meetings, etc.
Establishes and trains company personnel in GMP’s, HACCP System and SQF Edition 8.0 programs and any other key issues related to the quality assurance function.
Supervises the Sanitation personnel in their activities based the resources provided and promotes teamwork in the department.
Ensures that the Environmental program is performed as written, following up on all results as required with the Quality Specialist.
Follow Company safety policies, ensure the employees under their supervision comply with all of the internal health and safety requirements, and applicable health and safety legislation; issues discipline when compliance to such rules are violated; answers hazard reports; conducts accident investigations and completes applicable reports; ensures workers abide by health and safety rules and regulations and conducts health and safety talks.
Performs other related duties as required.
